Michael Shannon Honored at RiverRun

We just honored Michael Shannon with the RiverRun 2011 Emerging Master Award. Jeff Nichols (Shotgun Stories, Take Shelter) held a Q&A with Michael at the Babcock Theatre at UNCSA. We had a great night, and it was fantastic to hear about filmmaking from such a talented performer. They talked about Michael's wide range of acting experiences (from Boardwalk Empire to Groundhog Day) along with his future projects, including the upcoming Superman film, Man of Steel. Michael had the following to say about the casting experience:

" So I go meet him [Zack Snyder] and he's seriously sitting there and he's telling me - he's like 'You can't read the script, so I'm just gonna tell you what happens.' And he spent like a half hour telling me every scene in this movie...and then it's a month later, it's like 'OK, you're General Zod."
